Experts Discuss Consequences of Climate Change for Cultural Heritage (in German)

Cultural assets worldwide are exposed to a variety of threats, including climate change. The effects of climate change do not only affect distant regions of the world - parks in Brandenburg or the building fabric of churches in Central Europe are also changing. What strategies could be used to protect cultural heritage around the world from the effects of climate change?

In this recording of the public hearing of the subcommittee "Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy" of the German Bundestag, the committee and experts discuss possible risks, perspectives and opportunities for preserving cultural heritage under the conditions of climate change. MPIWG Director Prof. Dr. Jürgen Renn draws particular attention to the need for new forms of academic cooperation in order to save both cultural and natural world heritage sites - knowledge must be shared and local knowledge used.
