Shehab Ismail, Postdoctoral Fellow in Department III, has been awarded 30,000 USD by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) for his project "Digital History of British Colonial Cairo: Media and the Potentialities of History."
This collaborative public history project aims at creating a website containing media essays, a series of videos, and an interactive map of British colonial Cairo (1874–1920). It is primarily directed at a general, Arabic reading audience, but also addresses historians interested in digital history and visual narrative strategies.
