New Cooperation with the Sino-Norwegian Centre for the Study of Society and Environment (SINORSE)
The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science has joined the Sino-Norwegian Centre for the Study of Society and Environment (SINORSE). Established in 2019 between the University of Oslo (UiO) and Zhejiang University (ZJU), SINORSE coordinates and initiates research and teaching about society and environment in collaboration between scholars, teachers, and students from these institutes.
Research and teaching connected to SINORSE have a firm basis within the humanities and social sciences, but the cooperation also aims to build new research projects and teaching activities in collaboration with other disciplines, such as within the natural sciences.
Projects and Workshops
Currently, SINORSE members Anna L. Ahlers (Lise Meitner Research Group Leader, China in the Global System of Science) and Shen Yongdong (ZJU) are starting work on a project on science-policy interactions in the Chinese local state, taking the field of biophysical environmental protection as an example. The Lise Meitner Research Group, through which the collaboration was established, is also scheduled to host a workshop of SINORSE members in Berlin in late 2021.
