Two Seed Stories: Integration of Climate Change into Chinese Social Science of Agriculture
- 14:30 to 16:00

In Chinese academic discussions around agricultural crop seeds in times of climate change, the question emerges of how to account for changing climatic conditions. In this presentation, I ask how two social scientific researchers incorporated this new socioecological issue into their work. This case informs broader questions about expertise and climate change adaptation in agriculture, as well as the role of socioecological expertise in a non-democratic setting.

About This Series
The LMRG Research Workshop is a venue for members of the Lise Meitner Research Group, "China in the Global System of Science," to share work in progress on an ongoing basis. It is an opportunity to raise questions, discuss methodological challenges, or get feedback on preliminary conclusions. We aim to create a supportive atmosphere that combines rigorous criticism with genuine curiosity.
