Measuring the Earth Discussion Group

The date for the second meeting in the fall series of the Measuring the Earth discussion group is approaching: we will convene on October 28, 2021, 14:00-15:00 CEST. 

We will continue with the discussion of oceanic depths we begun in September, focussing on issues related to science in the cold war. The readings we plan to discuss are:

About This Series

Born originally out of the activities of the Measuring the Earth digitalization project within the Art of Judgement research cluster, the discussion group expands the former's focus on the history of geodesy to explore the broader historiographical debate on instances of measurement and surveying in the geosciences. Ideas for readings for our future meetings are always welcome.
